January – Unsheltered by Barbara Kingslover

Standard

It seems one most of the group enjoyed reading Kingslover’s latest. We used the reader’s guide questions from Book Browse. The book was my choice because I feel no one tells a family’s story the way this author does. Our discussion covered all the relatable topics and issues within the story, old and new: the mother-daughter relationship, the “too soon”ness of the T***p supporter in her father-in-law and the dangers journalist experience.

Kingslover discusses her characters and the metaphor of the house in her interview Oprahmag. Mid article they list all her books. This book club has read several but I did notice we have several still to read. We will have to add them to future lists.
